Punjab Police announced a phased rollout of body cameras for police and traffic personnel within the next two months as part of the “Fast, Fearless, Transparent Justice” reforms. The initiative also includes panic buttons outside police stations, operational CCTV systems, and a central monitoring room linked with Safe Cities for oversight of stations and investigations. Officials said activities at police stations and complaint handling via the 1787 centre will be recorded to enhance transparency, accountability, and citizen feedback mechanisms.
