Proposals to Pakistan’s Finance Bill 2026-27 which levies a 5% tax on income earned through social media platforms was approved by a Senate standing committee on Monday. The measure would apply to all earnings generated by local and foreign digital content creators, influencers, and online entrepreneurs through social media platforms. Annual incomes of Rs.600,000 would be exempt while earnings between Rs.600,000 and Rs.1.2 million would be taxed.
