The Islamabad High Court issued notices to the Establishment Division and Ministry of Interior on a petition filed by former NCCIA Director General Waqaruddin Syed, who was removed from his post in October 2025 and made Officer on Special Duty. Syed challenged a departmental inquiry initiated against him over allegations of corruption, misconduct, and abuse of authority, arguing proceedings violated natural justice principles and his constitutional right to a fair trial. He also contested the use of NCCIA letterhead for inquiry notices and the holding of proceedings at NCCIA offices. PM Shehbaz Sharif had ordered the departmental action following revelations of alleged misconduct by NCCIA officials.
