The European Commission’s transparency obligations under Article 50 of the AI Act came into force, requiring companies to disclose AI interactions, label AI generated content, and flag deepfakes on public interest topics. The same day, the AI Office gained enforcement powers over general purpose AI models, with fines up to 15 million euros or 3 percent of global turnover. Meta has declined to sign the EU’s voluntary AI Code of Practice, while Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic have signed.
