Pakistan has launched a nationwide cashless payment system for passport fees at all offices, in a drive to modernize public services in the country. Announced by the Interior Minister, the reform hopes to eliminate the need for citizens to stand in long queues to make cash payments – making the payments convenient, faster, and more transparent. Pakistani authorities are also planning on launching a dedicated passport mobile application system, where citizens at home or aboard can apply for a passport online and receive it via courier.
