The Punjab government established a dedicated digital media cell within the home department to monitor and curb sectarian, violent, and hate content on social media during Muharram. Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman visited the facility and reviewed its live cyber patrolling system. He directed authorities to take immediate legal action against individuals and accounts spreading religious hatred or provocative content online, stressing there should be no delay in acting against those inciting sectarian tensions. The cell is part of broader security measures aimed at maintaining law and order and promoting interfaith harmony across the province during the sensitive religious period.
