Asad Ali Toor has been called to appear before Cybercrime Reporting Centre in Islamabad on July 31st as part of a scrutiny. The investigation is based on Section 26A of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016. He has been accused of disseminating false/fake information. He is required to submit his statement; nonattendance would be considered as violation of the legal notice which would be reciprocated with severe actions. It caught the attention of the National Press Club (NPC), and faced harsh condemnation for deteriorating the state of press freedom in Pakistan.
