The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested dozens of suspects during coordinated operations against cyber fraud, illegal call centres, and online exploitation across Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. In Karachi, 33 individuals were arrested for allegedly stealing foreign nationals’ personal data and committing bank fraud. In Lahore, 17 women were detained for allegedly operating a honey-trap call centre that manipulated victims into providing financial benefits through online interactions. Another nine suspects were arrested for allegedly defrauding UK citizens through fake mobile phone offers. Separately, authorities in Islamabad arrested an individual accused of defrauding a citizen of Rs10.4 million through an online investment scheme. The NCCIA seized multiple digital devices and initiated investigations under relevant cybercrime laws. The operations highlight growing concerns surrounding cross-border cyber fraud, misuse of personal data, online financial exploitation, and the need for stronger cybersecurity awareness and consumer protection mechanisms.
