Pakistani actor Hira Tareen issued a public warning on Instagram after discovering a contract clause granting a production house permanent ownership of her digital likeness, including her voice, face, and gestures, for unlimited use including future AI training. She raised the issue with the Actors' Collective of Pakistan (ACT), which confirmed the trend was unprecedented locally. Tareen noted other actors began receiving similar contracts shortly after. Drawing parallels with the 2023 Hollywood strikes, she urged colleagues to scrutinise contracts for terms including "digital replica," "perpetuity," and "AI training model," and to consult ACT Pakistan or legal counsel before signing any agreements that could permanently surrender their creative identity.
