Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum dismissed cricketer Mohammad Rizwan’s petition challenging an NCCIA inquiry and call-up notice, directing him to cooperate with proceedings while instructing the agency not to subject him to harassment or unnecessary inconvenience. The inquiry relates to allegations of electronic fraud under PECA Section 14, arising from cyber patrolling. Rizwan had argued the notice was vague and without jurisdiction, and that online betting was not a scheduled PECA offence. CJ Neelum ruled the inquiry was neither without jurisdiction nor malicious, and that the ICC’s disciplinary framework did not bar a state agency from conducting its own inquiry.
