The Federal Investigation Agency established a direct official communication channel with Meta Asia Pacific, formally recognising the FIA’s Single Point of Contact at the National Command and Control Centre. Previously, data requests required routing through Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties or Interpol, taking months. The new channel reduces response times to days for requests covering Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Permissible requests include preservation orders, subscriber information, login IP history, content removal, and emergency disclosures. Investigating Officers compile case files, which are approved by a Circle In-charge before submission through the designated channel. FIA Director General Dr Usman Anwar said the channel would strengthen responses to terrorism and child exploitation cases.
