The Federal Investigation Agency established a Cryptocurrency Investigation Unit inside its newly operational National Command and Control Centre (NC3), tasked with investigating money laundering, terror financing, and fraud carried out through digital assets. FIA Counter-Terrorism Wing Director Dr Muhammad Athar Waheed clarified the unit investigates criminal misuse rather than regulating the sector, that role stays with the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA). He also urged the NCCIA and Anti-Narcotics Force to build similar dedicated units.
