Digital harassment protection system launched in Punjab

A new digital harassment protection system has been launched by the Chief Minister of Punjab aimed at combatting online abuse, cyberbullying and digital blackmail, particularly against women. The proposed system includes confidential complaint mechanisms, virtual support centers and panic-button facilities to improve emergency response and victim protection. Authorities also plan on establishing a cybercrime unit and patrol wing to strengthen digital law enforcement.

Preliminary draft of online harassment law in Punjab complete

The government of Punjab has prepared a preliminary draft of the Punjab Online Safety Act 2026 to combat rising cases of online harassment and blackmail. Expected to be presented to the provincial assembly soon, the law includes a virtual police station, a mobile app, and a front desk service for victims of online harassment to ensure confidentiality in reporting. It will also introduce stricter punishments for perpetrators.

Suspects in viral video case arrested by Mardan police

After taking notice of a viral video on social media, Mardan police arrested four suspected individuals for harassing a teenage girl. The video, made viral on TikTok, showed a young teenage girl being harassed by men at a private event in the KPK city. Prominent figures such as journalist Asad Ali Toor and urged provincial authorities to take swift action against the perpetrators.
