The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) and the World Bank have agreed to develop advanced digital systems to modernise Punjab’s tax administration, expand the tax base and improve revenue collection. During a meeting in Lahore, the PRA and World Bank discussed using digital databases, data analytics and international tax practices to strengthen the province’s tax system. The proposed reforms include integrating information from different government departments to identify tax evasion and financial discrepancies in business records. Digital tools will also be used to identify previously untaxed businesses and bring them into the tax net.
